Local to Austin, Yoga Practice

Gearing up for Wanderlust Austin

November really sneaked up on me! I registered for Wanderlust Austin so long time ago – well before I knew I would be pregnant – and now that it’s here NEXT WEEK, I’m actually a little nervous about how I’ll handle 3 days of yoga. I picked my schedule as soon as it came out (which was also before I knew I was pregnant), and I’m going to assume I can modify a ton for the intermediate/advanced classes because many of the other classes are full! I should’ve gotten in on more of the yin and meditation classes, but they all have waitlists now.

I’ve been wanting to attend a Wanderlust Festival the last couple years, mostly for the vacation aspect but of course for the yoga too. Since I couldn’t get vacation plans together for the other ones, I was delighted to see it coming to Austin. It’ll be kind of strange for the festival to occupy the single city block that Wanderlust studio is instead of a mountain top resort with gorgeous scenic views, but… I’m pleased the fest is coming to me when travel isn’t so easy.

The lineup looks pretty typical Wanderlust. Shiva Rea and Seane Corne are the big name teachers. And it seems MC Yogi is at every major yoga event. Some local teachers are on the schedule, like Gioconda Parker and Ben & Hilly. I am excited to see Shakey Graves (heard so much about him through NPR!) and El John Selector, who’s DJ’ed various yoga events around town.

I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone by signing up for trance dance and such. Maybe I’ll walk away with some feathers in my hair. Haha. I’m sure I’ll have fun things to report no matter what. If anyone else is attending, let me know! Also, the Kula Village (parking lot behind Wanderlust studio) is open to the public.
