I don’t know why it took me so long to head to the east side, but I finally made it to Practice, where many of my favorite teachers are. What a lovely studio! It’s located on East 6th, right across the street from Eastside Show Room. They have a single studio space, which has a beautiful old ceiling with original wood planks. And parking was pretty easy on the street (free before 6 pm Tuesdays through Saturday, always free Sunday and Monday).
It’s a donation-based studio, and they suggest paying $10 – $15. When you enter the lobby, there’s a sign-in sheet. Then, you pay on the iPad sitting next to it. Super easy with a swipe of the credit card and select your amount. There’s also a drop box if you want to pay with cash.
The place is nicely decorated, with a large mural of a palace on the wall opposite the mirror wall and chandeliers hanging from the old wood ceiling. They have changing spaces and bathrooms through the back sliding doors of the studio. Many of the classes are heated but not Bikram hot, and they have various levels, late night classes and soon 6 am-ers.
I really love that they have some of the best vinyasa teachers in town. My personal recommendations are Gioconda, Angie and Shanti. You’d be paying upwards of $20 at other studios to attend their classes, so I completely agree with their slogan, “Absurdly high quality donation yoga.”
Honestly, this ranks up there among one of my favorite yoga experiences in Austin so far. I’ll be back for more!
