Located on South Lamar next to Chipotle, Sukha Yoga (to my delight and surprise) opened this spring and is co-owned by Erinn Lewis. I first met Erinn at Wanderlust Austin in 2013 and took two of her classes – a rooftop flow class and a parenting workshop. I was so excited that she was local to Austin and made a note to myself to seek out her classes. Of course, pregnancy and new baby #2 got in the way of my yoga practice since then. BUT, I’m getting back into the game now and am so thankful to stumble across this little gem.
Entering the building is a beautifully decorated, bright lounge and retail space. You can’t help but feel happy and lighthearted when you walk in. There are pops of color everywhere, comfy seating and a tea station. You’re welcome to settle in and hang out before/after class and make yourself at home. Sukha Yoga strives to be a community space.
Inside is a large studio space as well as a smaller studio for community classes and trainings. Classes range from zen (Sukha Surrender, Sukha Slow Flow) to more challenging (Sukha Flow, Sukha Power). Also on the schedule are family and kids classes in partnership with The Little Yoga House. You may even see a little dog puttering around the studio between classes, although he’s known to pee on mats!
Some of the best vinyasa teachers in town are on the schedule, and it’s an easily accessible location for South/Central Austin. Walk-in rate is $20 a class, and there are class passes and unlimited passes of all shapes and sizes.
